Radio Updated

I have been watching the other posts about stereo upgrades.

My rules were,

No holes,

No wires to be cut.

I like the idea of a radio made to fit my car.

Fortunately for us, Pontiac used the same radio in other cars.

But only one company seems to deal with a direct fit for my car.

I went with that one from Midwest Muscle.

A bit pricey but I had some PayPal bucks  burning a hole in my digital pocket.

Very easy to install and exact fit !

The sound is pretty good but most people would want an amp.

Left front, for now, is the centre dash with right being easily fitted behind the glove box and facing down.

The rear, for now are just behind the back seat and facing up. They are completely out sight. Even from the trunk.

They are muffled a bit but sound good.

I like the new dials, hopefully the chrome will stay on.

The only big disappointment was there was a $66.00 duty added to the $40.00 shipping by Canada Post because I think, Midwest wasn't aware they had to charge tax.

I had the original radio in the Beaumont converted by this fellow. Expensive, and he's (more than a little) eccentric, but I'm delighted with the outcome. I still have the Custom Auto Sound head unit that I was going to use - bought all their amps, speakers, crossovers and wiring - if anyone is interested. They integrate nicely, but when I realized I could preserve that "BEAUMONT" faceplate, I couldn't resist.

You can hook up whatever input suits you - CD changer, MP3 player, etc., and it works with AM or FM off-air signals. I just stream satellite radio through it, but more discriminating listeners might prefer their own playlists.

Pretty cool Randy. Nice to not have to hack the dash to make it work.
