Buyer snaps up old Ford mega-plant site amid Amazon speculation

Buyer snaps up old Ford mega-plant site amid Amazon speculation | London Free Press (lfpress.com)

Amazon backed out of building on the marshlands in Pickering and if you ask me, it's a Win/Win.

They will be welcomed here.

I still miss the place that I spent 24 years at,

In this photo taken in 2009, looking west, with Highway 4 along the top of the frame, Ford's St. Thomas Assembly plant near Talbotville is shown. (Mike Hensen, The London Free Press)

Think of it every time I see a Crown Vic police cruiser or taxi, or a Town Car in livery service. Used to drive by there every Tuesday night during the summer of '73, in a freezer truck, en route to the Friendly Ice Cream Parlo(u)r on Talbot St. Assume it's just fields, again? The Sterling plant, on Edgeware, is still standing - they make bathtubs and faucets there, I believe.

Wasn't THAT long ago - early 2000s - that Ontario produced more motor vehicles than Michigan.

worked there during the shut downs in the summers for years. It was too far to drive from Hamilton every day so we stayed in London. We worked hard and played hard back in them daysno
