Is there a Woodworker in the house?

My wife is looking for someone who could build three small wooden boxes with lids. Size would be 3"X3" square and 2" high. Preferably the lid would be hinged and have a clasp to remain closed. It doesn't need to be finished (just ready to finish- sanded etc) and can be made of pine or similar light wood. Budget is about $40 each. If you can help us out please PM me.

Thanks

 Todd

Those are pretty small. Very miniature hinges. Guessing 3 feet square.

No, 3 inches x 3 inches by 2" high.
We can obtain hinges and latches if need be. I could slap something together but these require someone who has the skills to do a nice job putting something like this together. We've looked at places like Michaels and online but everything we find is made of lightweight balsa wood-like crap.

could you just take a solid block of oak or maple and router out the end of it then make a lid ?

Sure. Let me know when you're finished. LOL. I don't have a router. It could be an easy $40 a pop to a guy who has the right tools.

I wish I could, but I just don't have the time. I have at least (10) woodworking projects in the hopper. Right now I'm restoring an antique/folkie shoe shine box.

I know if I made them, I wouldn't charge $40.00 a pop, that is way too much $.

3x3x2 is your outside dimensions right Todd?

Yes, those are the dimensions. I found a custom woodworking shop in Charlottetown. I stopped in and gave them the dimensions. They are to get back to me with a quote...

We had a craft store years back and I made all of the wood items that were painted in classes at the store. I made anything from boxes (some pretty elaborate) to plaques and multiple piece free standing ornamental figures.

I built all my boxes with Baltic Birch plywood and it would be my choice of material for small boxes like that. Its easy to work with and finish. The multiple laminations give you a straight, solid and durable result.
