Gorgeous car, but I'm not seeing anything that would require the Central Office Production Order intervention. RCMP Biscaynes were COPOs, Yellow Cabs, too. Unless it was accelerating the build in order to have the cars in time for the event, there's nothing on this car that couldn't have been ordered from a Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Cadillac dealer in Edmonton in '69-'70, using a standard option selection sheet.

Central Chev-Olds in downtown London actually DID order and sell some COPO Camaros and Chevelles back in the day, with 427s unavailable to the general public, and I think the Pontiac-Buick-Cadillac dealer in Coquitlam had some Beaumonts similarly equipped.

Someone who is determined to have a genuine COPO, but lacks half a mil USD, should find a dry-climate junkyard, and look for a retired police car, taxi cab, or BC Hydro K250 pickup. You get the same boasting rights. AND, you have the advantage of knowing what a coil does, or how to adjust drum brakes, that the ones paying the big bucks at Barrett-Jackson and Mecum are blissfully ignorant of!

I agree that there is nothing unusual about this car. The COPO is probably the fact that all three were ordered on the same order and probably the same delivery date, not really unusual companies have done it for years on fleet orders.
For less money you could probably buy this one.

Agreed. Peter has high quality stuff, but his prices aren't out of line with market realities. His car MIGHT bring $250K USD; I assume the one in Kelowna is priced in CAD, so a bit less.

So a little history on this car. I will be missing lots of info but Ive known this car for probably a dozen years or more. I built a beautiful house for the previous owner who brought the car into Kelowna right around 08. House was 6500 square feet on each floor with a 10 ceiling in the walk out basement. Out of the basement were 2 glass garage doors and a little over 4000 feet of the lower floor was for car storage. Also was a triple garage attached to the main floor of the house plus a 40 by 60 Quonset for his coach and the other cars. So this car plus 2 matching convertibles were made with consecutive vin numbers for a big race in Edmonton. I cant remember the name of the race. So my friend was able to purchase 2 of the 3 but the third at that time remained in a collection in Florida. 08 didnt treat my friend well and many of these cars were sold. Current owner was a very close friend of my friend and bought this off him. Gordie has had this car for sale for quite awhile and my guess would be he is just fishing. Not sure where the second one went as it had been restored on the Island but not to the standard it deserved.
He had a great Chevelle, Nova, and Camaro collection. Probably close to 20 cars. Couple I liked were a 68 survivor Camaro convertible with a/c and 30 thousand miles out of Florida. Also a 67 Nova which turned out to be the last car off the production line for that year. Sorry this is so long but different recollections come up. Funny story on the sale of this car. My friend was out of the country when the potential buyer got ahold of him and they hammered out a price they agreed on. When my friend got back home the fellow showed up to pick up the car. Cant remember the exact numbers but the certified cheque was for about 30 thousand less than the agreed price. He had the rest in cash telling my friend that amount on the cheque was what his wife thought he was paying for it. We had a good laugh over that. Anyhow that is a blown up story from a car listing.

That's good info on this car, and makes more sense than just declaring it a COPO. Way out in left field on the price though!

Think it may have been the Can-Am race. I am by no means a racing historian.

Right looks like they called it the Can-Am Edmonton Klondike Trail 200. My lesson in racing history today.

Nice Chevelle.  Love the colour combo and it presents really well.  I don't really care about COPO and all that, and to me $300K is the same as $50K on a hobby car... both are more than I would pay for a Chevelle - any Chevelle - at this point in my life.  So, the price is fine, IMHO.  The market he is shooting at doesn't really care how much it is - if they want it they will buy it.
