Rust Valley unreserved auction of over 500 cars beginning of October

Just saw a notice earlier of Mike Hall's collection of projects going for sale the first 3 days of October.  I'm hoping to make the third day unless they keep me in Quebec for a few extra days.  It should create a little excitement in the car world out here and maybe even from afar.

After all his "I don't want to sell" nonsense (I wonder how much it was contrived) on the show, it looks like reality has taken over.

I just spent a couple of days binge watching it while recovering from illness. I like the show and I like Mike. It and he have high entertainment value, though I don't learn much about restoration from the show.

There are two ways to look at this: 1. It was genuine but reality has taken over as noted (I'm sure many of us with multiple cars have come to terms with the fact that we likely can't get everything

we want to do completed  in our lifetimes, especially of we are in the older retired category and/or on reduced income) or 2. The show was an opportunity to amp up the collection to make it ready for sale at higher auction prices.

Maybe there's a bit of both going on there but I lean towards number 1.

If Mike is truly the character portrayed in the show, he is probably recognizing that the show is not going to save his collection or get the cars restored and so he has to move them to other homes before they become dust in the ground. the show can help him do that.

Pure speculation of course, but he seems like a decent guy at a crossroads.

Totally agree with you John. I do not know Mike but have met him a few times. First time was 10-12 years ago at the Kamloops Hot Night in the City car show. He had a large book then of his project cars for sale and he referred to them as his retirement fund and has mentioned it since when I have seen him. Show should have helped that cause. What I know of him he is exactly as he is portrayed. He is a character whether you like him or not.

From what I've seen on TV I like him.

Right. He is really passionate about cars. Even on one episode where his son and Avery blew up an old Hudson it actually bothered him. Cars he used for demo derby and racing he was able to let go.

Not to mention he supposedly lost his property as per the 2021 finale.

No worries. It seemed to be going down that path anyway. I wonder if this also spells the end of the show?

If I could I'd like to attend this auction just for fun, but it's not practical in the midst of an unresolved pandemic.

Has anyone seen a list of cars consigned to the Auction from Electric Garage?

I haven't been able to find it online.

Interesting what happened in the last episode regarding the ownership of the land. Think hed would be smart enough to take care of that initially.

You think. I could not believe it. I thought it was a reality show cliffhanger to hook you as per usual.

There is that angle. But with everything unfolding over the internet it points in other directions.

The last episode is the only one I haven't seen yet but running up to it I had the feeling they were trying to create other characters for future shows should the program continue.

I did read somewhere that JF is interested in having his own show. Who knows?

Got that feeling when they introduced more characters. Spreading the wealth in the valley.
