So the guy with the doors in NB disappeared. My boss has a decent 88 Chevy 1/2 ton that he offered to sell me. He bought it from an estate sale and apparently the owner had just installed a crate 305. The doors are decent- a little bit of easily repaired scab on bottoms on the inside. Outsides are nice. Looks to have newer exhaust with a cat (which I need). I can have it for a grand. I'll likely pick it up and take what I need an part the rest. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

Good things come to people who wait.

Or so they say. But who are they ?

Well I can't win. Asked the boss about the ownership papers for the truck. No papers.. "Last owner died. You'd have to find the estate" blah blah blah.
Not worth the hassle. I think I'll just get a lower skin for the passenger door and fix it. My drivers door isn't too bad.

I'd just buy it as is and part it.

It might not be that hard to do. I did it a few months ago here in BC and it was a breeze, just takes 6 weeks or so. They charge us $7 for the process and the only other thing that costs you is a registered letter for about $10 and a notarized statement that says what you are doing. That cost me another $20. You just have to wait a month after sending the letter if there is no one alive at the last address they find for you. I was really impressed how easy it was and will even look at some vehicles around here that go cheap because they don't have regy.

At some point I'd have to get rid of what's left and from what I understand any reputable scrap dealer won't take it without papers.

May want to double check on that too.  I've scrapped 3 or 4 without any regy and it is with the main scrap yard here in town.  No problem.  First time they just take all your info and after that is just give them your name.  Goes back to the time when guys were stealing copper and selling it there.

If you chop it up enough it might not resemble anything afterwards.

What is your boss going to do with it?  Seems that he will be faced with the same problem.

Maybe he would just sell you the parts and keep the rest?

I think that's why he has offered it to me - he doesn't have time to deal with getting the paperwork. He often impulse buys things and then never uses them. His farm is full of trucks, tractors, boats, storage tanks, steel, etc etc etc.

Theres a junk yard up by Richmond, ask them. They took the remains of the 63 2 door post with no papers, it came with my Parisienne.

I've bought a couple un-papered cars, parted them, and had them scrapped, no questions asked.
