1963 Laurentian Windshield

Hi everyone,

I've followed most of the links for windshield discussions here on the CanadianPoncho site. Many of the links to comparable Chev models are no longer active.

I'm seeking a windshield for the 1963 Laurentian, sedan. One of the auto glass shops I spoke with couldn't find Laurentians in their search at all,  but found one for a Catalina from the US. My understanding is that this will not be a match. And that I should look at Chevrolets instead.

I apologise for not being able to decipher the previous posts if the answers are contained within. The quote for the Catalina glass was $1200, Canadian dollars, tax included. Yikes!

Any light shed is most appreciated.

Roy

Welcome to the site.

I was told years ago that GM different model windshields for a particular year were all the same.

The only difference was they priced them higher for the Cadillacs.

The experts on this site can confirm if it's true.

In many cases it's a lot easier order parts for a Chevrolet of that year than looking for Canadian models.

I've never ordered from Classic, so I don't know what's involved in cost or shipping.

Sedan glass is the same for all 63-64 Chevys, Pontiacs (US and Canadian), Buicks (e.g. LeSabre) and Olds 88 sedans. Taller roofline means taller front and rear windshields compared to hardtops.

Yes, so make sure you order for a sedan, NOT a hardtop!

2 door hardtop/sport coupe amd convertible are shorter top to bottom, all other models had the same glass in the windshield. Order for an Impala/BelAir/biscayne sedan. Check with your local glass supplier first, then Antique Chevrolet in Ontario, then any US suppliers. Shipping is expensive Im guessing and damage during shipping is a risk, so the closer to home you but it the better. In the US, Auto City Classics have a good name. www.autocityclassic.com//

Excellent in every way except that they don't ship to Canada. I had to go down there and pick up my glass when I was out west two years ago.
