There is a monkey in my future

As part of my training at the Abilities Centre I was introduced to the Monkey Sled.  Last week I made 2 trips down the carpet ramp with no weight and this week we added 30 lbs to the sled.

I can see myself adding more weight each week to build up my overall strength.

Mondays are spent in the weight room with all of the seated machines along with a tread mill and then on Wednesday we go to the room where the walking track is.  On the walking track side there are stations with various equipment that will test you metal...

That's similar to what football players (except the ones they use are more padded, heavier, and they run full-boar into it).

Your not training to be a linebacker are you Cliff?wink More power to you!

Well with the Thanksgiving activities and school activities my personal coach took a month off.   I really didnt do anything to keep up my physical gains in that time.   Lounge chair lizard...

Got back to more training on Thurs last week and used all of the machines in the weight room.  There are  about 10 machines that punish various parts of the body. That went fairly well.

Monday I had a 1 hour massage booked and found some deep rooted muschles that had been hiding for some time.

Tues we got to walk the track and try out some of the stations which are located on the sides.

Thurs my coach asked me how how I was doing and I replied I had about 40 percent energy.

We walked a distance on the track with my coach holding my walking poles, then was instructed to walk sideways sliding my foot forward away from my other foot.    Did that for quite a ways then reversed the  process.  Then to the Monkey where because of my weakened condition my coach loaded the monkey with two 10 lb weights.  Managed to push the Monkey down the carpet twice.

Got to the weight rack and picked up two 5 lb weights in my hands and started to do curls as I walked forward.

Made it to the bicycle for a five minute ride to rest my tired body.

Moved on from there to a 10 lb deadball.   10 reps from the floor to over my head for 3 seconds.

Next over to the tug boat anchor ropes, swinging them individually then together for 10 reps.

Then over to the step exercise,  6 inch raised feet on each side and step up and have the other foot join you on the platform then reverse the process another 10 sets.

At that point I was exhausted and still had 20 minutes left of my session.  I called it quits

I had just run out of gas..(

Today... first day driving my Hyundia to Abilities in Whitby

Got there about 7.00 PM  and went to the track area

Walked over to the leg extensions machine and casually did 10 reps four times.

That was next to the Monkey sled

I loaded the sled with two 25 lb weights and proceeded to push the sled both ways for 4 cycles.

This is all done without my personal trainer.

Next on to the bicycle for a 10 minute run.  Machine showed a heart rate of 150 when I first sat down but after a fem minutes settled down to 100.

My target rate allowable based on my history is 142.

Finished up walking along the hand rail and stretching my stride distances

I have to get away from shuffling my feet.

Good work out... we will see what morning brings.

I know I have some "Honey Do" jobs lined up now that I  am roadworthy.

Last entry Aug 2021?

Well I have continued to attend training sessions and have arranged for 30 in home sessions. Christmas break and another month off after that.
Today April 22 2022 I had a bonanza day. Each of the activities my person trainer presented me with I increased the number of reps to 15 from the usual 10 reps. Deep knee bends hurt the most and make a symphony of loud noises.
Pulling on the massive tug boat ropes together and individually and after that swing out from there your body so your arms are fully extended.
We got to the Monkey Sled and piled two 45 lb weights on then grunted my way down the 25 foot carpet. TWICE... THATS 90 LBS. Cant decide on my next goal.

Today I have completed 60 personal training sessions.

The monkey sled was loaded to 45 lbs then added 20 more and then topped it off at 20 more.

95 lbs on that old sled

Against my dwindling body. Had to put another hole in my belt for my shrinking waistline.

Will now be on my own at Abilities but have had excellent guidance along the way progressing from a Walker to ski poles  and then stand alone keeping vertical as much as possible.
