Dash clock

Anybody had any luck trying to repair a dash clock in our old Pontiac's? My 64 clock is stopping and requires a jump start to

get going again, Usually pull the adjustment rod and let go then clock start's to operate for a while. Have heard there is a quartz

movement that can be installed, but have never seen any for sale, or do they come with new clock? I did send it out to a clock

repair guy 15 years back, all he did was clean the points and lube it, but now requires help to start. Any Idea's before it get's replaced.

I've read of guys buying the parts from these guys and they say it's easy to do. No personal experience with it though.

Sometimes just a little lube and a cleaning of the points will bring it back. You at least have a clock that appears sticky and will run, so I'd say it's just needing some light lube on the movement.

I was able to bring back a long dead clock.

You can see the points action here, along with the burnt points.

Yes, I have cleaned the points in a clock in the past. Usually if the car sits with the battery disconnected the points will oxidize over the winter.

I sent mine to a place from EBay in 2012, it cost me $119.95 USD shipped. They did an excellent job 9 years ago and still running strong! I dont see them on EBay anymore. They all use the same quartz conversion you can buy yourself, but when someone else does it, they paint the needle, polish the lens and clean it all up.
