I read that the one in the trees was a display of a jumping General, and the one on the ground was a stunt car.  Looks like a roll cage where the A-pillars would be.

Dukes trivia

"Somewhere between 256 and 321 "General Lee" cars were created and mostly destroyed during the series.

Less than 20 in various states of disrepair still exist.

Despite popular belief, there were no 1970 Chargers used in the series according to all the car builders."

A lot of these General Lee "TV cars" are fake.

One in the trees is a billboard advertisement. Helped along with the blue sky visible through the passenger front wheel.

I dunno about the 1970 cars, though.  There have been many accounts of 1970s being used, plus from what I've read, once their supply was starting to dry up they were desperate to use whatever they could find.  Not to mention that you would just have to replace the front clip of a 1970 to make it look like a 1969.

Once source I read even said that they started using AMC Ambassadors modified to look like Chargers in the later episodes, though that seems even less likely than them using 1970 Chargers.

FWIW, I found the show amusing but always hated how they continued to destroy vintage cars for entertainment.  You could see the cars folding up when they landed from a jump.  Sad and hard to watch, IMHO.

Was always fun to hear squealing tires when General Lee was on dirt roads.
