Has anyone installed a modern day F.I. with an in tank pump ?

Looking into doing that in regards to wiring an in tank pump. Thinking a FiTech unit for the carb replacement.

Have you put a relay to control it ? How did you wire it ?

I put FiTech into my 350 crate and found out that the tank was not deep enough for the recommended pump
An auxiliary pump was installed on the firewall.
Makes lots of noise.
The repair shop in Markham did the installation.
Comes with a gadget to fine tune the carb settings
Havent bothered to play with it.
Starts much better.

I just installed one of these into the tank in my Holden HK GTS for a Holley Sniper setup. These are Australian but you will be able to get similar stuff in Canada. If you can't the MRA units listed in that site for VT-VY will be the same as the Australian made Pontiac GTO sold in North America around 2003-6, and the VE MRA will be the same as Pontiac G8 and Chevrolet SS sedan plus maybe even the 5th gen Camaro that was based upon the VE Holden. If you can't get the weld in rings in Canada you could order that kit from Australia and buy the MRA in Canada or the USA. Which MRA you use depends upon the height of the tank, the MRA base is spring loaded so has to push against the flat bottom of the tank once bolted in.

You an run those bolt on EFI setups as either return to tank with a regular in the throttle body or after it, or dead head them in which case the MRA has an inbuilt regulator. Just buy the right MRA.

I used a VT-VY style, with an MRA from a VZ Holden (which will be the same as the final Pontiac GTO) as I am dead head feeding the Holley Sniper - the regulator is in the MRA. If you want that height MRA and want to run a return line use the VT MRA.

Im following this thread.

With a bit of a search, Summit carries a generic in-tank fuel pump setup but I would like to hear from someone that has done an install, what they used and what they think of the result. My Nova has the fuel lines required so it would be my first attempt. If it works out, the Beaumont would be next. Interested to hear about experiences anyone has had.

Carl has a guy for this, but I would like to do as much preliminary work as I can and leave it to the expert to finish the install and drive it home. As I proof-read this, talking to Carls contact might be the best approach!

Added Holley Sniper EFI to the Beau. Ended up sourcing the replacement tank/pump from them, too. Happy to hook anyone up with my friend, who did the heavy lifting on the install. He's a wizard with electrical and electronic stuff, the physical part of the installation was pretty much bolt-in, and bolt-on, the art is in hooking up the juice, and in programming the EFI's ECU. Once it was running, I had it dialed in on a chassis dyno. It's still "learning", I'm just not using the car enough.

Installed Sniper on 327. Used Holley OEM tank module on stock gas tank. Works great and eliminates return line. Quieter. Cooler. Recommend. Relay in Sniper harness. Includes power wire lI got enough. just had to run a ground. I ran it all the way back to battery.

I was told the more you drive it  the more it learns about your driving style and adjust as it goes.

With my medical suspension of my license I haven't been able to put on many miles.

There should be manuals and wiring diagrams with the system you buy. Holley Sniper does, here is the Sniper Quadrajet full manual:

For some reason it won't let me put the link in. The resources are here:

well. I have jumped back on at the right time. I installed an aeromotive phantom fuel pump system perfectly adaptable to your tank. Works like a charm. I access it through a cover in the boot. Has all you need. Best thing I have ever did. Recently replaced my edelbrock proflo 1 with a FAST EZI 2 retrofit kit. They come in various GPH depending on horsepower. I actually have a dual one sitting on my shelf which i got real cheap does up to 1000hp. Was going to put it in mine but decided it was overkill and left my single pump in. Running 450-500hp big block. BEST INVESTMENT EVER! and run a return system, seperate quality regulator too, I run an aeromotive, delete the built in one.
