POLICE FOUND IT.....Stolen 2002 GMC Seirra 1500HD Quad Cab Pickup Truck in London ON

I had my 2002 GMC Seirra 1500HD Quad Cab 4X4 Pickup Truck stolen tonight from my work.  I bought it in 2004. It had a 6L with 437,000 km with lots of life left in it.

The only rust was were the paint was flaking away around the door handles, which I was planning to fix over the winter.

It was called a heavy half model, so pretty much a 3/4 ton truck, see attached picture of similar truck.

Not vey happy at the moment, I was hoping for another 6-7 years and then I was going to replace it when I was close to retirement.

The odd thing is I don't drive my truck to work, a friend needed some patio stones picked up in Woodstock so I helped him out on my way to work.

What a weird feeling to not see your truck where it is supposed to be parked.

So now I am on the lookout for a similar truck, so if you hear of a similar year truck for sale, please let me know.

Frank

Well they found it Kevin, now we will see how things go with insurance, just as you stated.  The police used a spike belt to stop the truck and then they drove it for about 3 km after that.  Rims and tires are trashed, so are the inner fenders.  Inside and outside is still pretty much the same.

Here are some pictures

There has been a lot of 1990s to 2007 Chev/GMC thefts in the London area.

2008s I believe, had a chip in the keys.

Maybe the Police have broken up the ring.

This one below, will probably never be seen again.

Great that someone got caught but I'm worried you won't have a truck once they assess all the damage. A 19 year old truck needing wheels, tires, liners, maybe some wheel bearing and chassis work because of the damage......

In response to the chip in the key post, I owned a 2001 Chevrolet 1/2 ton with about 300,000 km when I sent it to scrap. The tumblers in the drivers door lock and ignition switch were so badly worn that it didnt take much to unlock it and start it with another GM key.

Shame that it happened. To the insurance company its worth pennies. But try to replace or repair it.

I just finally negotiated a settlement with my insurance company (2 months later).   I had to pay $500 to get an appraisal done in order to get $3,000 more value for my truck.

And then they wanted $3,500 to purchase my truck back and they only initially wanted to give my $5,700.

So now my truck is off to the auction, and I am planning to have my mechanic who has a dealers license to buy it back for me.

Very frustrating process.

That is tough !

Neighbors Avalanche went missing Sunday Night.

May be an image of car and outdoors

Locked up but that never stops anyone.

There is a real appetite by thieves for 2007 and older GM trucks in South Western Ontario.

It's like they are constantly on the prowl for them.

Something that might work for some of you guys is a driveway alarm. I have one and it works great. As soon as someone drives or walks up my driveway the chime in the house goes off. Mine has a 1/4 mile range. The transmitter itself has a small solar panel on it and in two years I've never changed the battery. Got mine from Amazon.

Just make sure the truck hasnt been branded salvage. Have your mechanic verify the auction description in regard to the title. The insurance company doesnt need your copy of the title to brand the truck, all they need to show the MTO that you were paid for the salvage.
