Anybody go to the auction? I almost registered online but decided not to. Looked at what the cars went for and Im Flabbergasted . Glad I didnt register because it wouldve cost me the $25 registration fee. Complete junk going for CRAZY prices. I think Mike came out on the really good end on this one. Kudos to him for collecting them, because he just got away with robbing people without them knowing it. Ha!

I see that all the Abody beaumonts and chevelles went super cheap, i can belive that 68 wagon didnt bring more, must be trashed. and the 67 4dr sedan looks drivable by my standards. All the beaumonts looked salvagable

MY BEAUMONT HAS 4 STUDDED TIRES AND 2 BLOCKHEATERS......AND LOTS OF OIL UNDERNEATH. The other one has a longer roof.
I was looking at #14 and #499.. #14 was a decent price but the shipping to get it here would have added another $2000... possibly X2 for both of them.. #499 went higher but the added $$ for fees would have givin' an added kick in the pants..

Some of these cars did go for more than I expected given their condition. But the other side of the story is that you can't find much of this stuff anymore, like all the tri-five Chevy wagon shells for example. Or the Beaumonts. Or any full size Ford 2 door post.
If I lived in the region I would have been after the 68 Ford Custom and 66 Meteor 2 door posts, the the 64 Lemans and 65 Skylark 2 door posts, one of the 56 Chevy wagon projects and the 68 Laurentian wagon 396.
I thoroughly inspected all the 64-65 Beaumonts and Chevelles in the yard months before the auction and determined that they were all to far gone to even restore, definitely not worth the thousands mike was asking for the ultra rare models. Then they decided to auction off the cars and I looked again a week before the auction being even more thorough inspection, figuring I could pick up a few for some salvageable parts but with the outrageous buyer premium and the costs of getting it home I was not willing to spend more than I could get in parts value. They all had extensive frame rot ( the ones that had frames under them) most were extremely rusted throughout and no floors left. There was one four door that was listed as a 65 Beaumont super deluxe that was in fair condition( but was really a 64 4 door chevelle)
Dave the convertible I got in you neck of the woods was in extremely great condition compared to those cars.
And sold to floor meant to in person people at the auction.
Well looking through the pages , Im shocked how much some of these cars went for Ballpark round numbers Id have to say mike likely averaged $750-$1,000 per car plus $200,000 for the so called 4 feature cars , so Im guessing ballpark $500,000 to maybe $ 700,000
Just a guess ,but there was a lot of parts cars there that werent parts cars
I wonder if that 396 Laurentian wagon was the same one that was for sale in Penticton a few years ago for $6,000 to $8,000, that no one could ever connect with to go and see.
Definitely some odd pricing, I guess depends on how bad someone wants a particular model.
Friends have a place in Blind Bay very close to Rust Valley and we went to his place one time. Mike looked and acted exactly like the show, seems like a very genuine guy and these cars really were his children.
Incidentally I looked through and noticed #228 says 1968 Chevelle, but definitely has a Beaumont front clip that looked like had some rare grille pieces intact. Wonder if any CP member picked that up?
The tan coloured 55 Chev (#550) that was sold for $8000 was a car I tried to get a few years ago. It was in Ontario and I was a few hours to late. I believe it was around 3-4K that the car was bought for. Mike ended up with it, stripped all the hood stuff from it, and made a killing on it in the end. Would have been nice to get a few of the cars but shipping to the east coast would have broke the bank. I desperately wanted to grab the (3) 66-67 Acadian 2 door hardtops but at 3k each to ship here was not worth it.
And really good for Mike, glad he was able to get rid of everything! Heres hoping hes collecting something smaller now.or maybe limited to a 3 car garage !
Yes. Lot 133 Beaumont SD with tags sold for 25 bucks!
Then you add $300 buyers premium and $25 to register and you have a shell to go pick up which will probably cost you another hun to get loaded by a skid steer onto your trailer. If you need some tags I got lots of them for free. I was with Lawrence the week before the sale and completely agree on the condition of those cars. Even those 66-67 Acadians were barely worth shipping across the province. Give Mike credit for finding a space for a lot of peoples discards. I thought that 68 wagon wasnt bad though.
I attended an auction just east of Calgary about 20 years ago where the cars were basically the same condition as what was on offer from Rust Valley. The prices were very high, about the same as what Rust Valley went for. We learned later the owner had 3 or 4 people in the crowd bidding things up for him, and going by the site a year or so later showed half the cars were still there. So he kept half his cars, and got big dollars for the ones that left.

If you see the crap that's out here on the east coast that's still a steal.
He got his mug on tv, and capitalized on it by getting his own show;
He then turned around and sold rusty projects to people knowing that the "tv personality" would create a bidding frenzy.
Good for him.
Hopefully when the bidders collectively sober up, the buyers remorse doesn't run too deep.
I am looking forward to the third and final season of the show - hopefully it's the best season, not too cheesy/scripted, and a great send off.
... now I really gotta deal with my own "rust valley" in my garage... lol

Don't know if the show and his personality upped the prices. It did add more exposure about everything to an audience that he couldn't have reached otherwise.
I'd put money on him and the show upping prices;
there are alot of people who want a small part of that five minutes of fame.

So he starts at 500 cars that he will never get to. Down to 52 rust heaps that he will never get to.
Makes sense.
Perfect time to get rid of everything. Then buy what he needs when he needs it.
