Mahone Bay, NS Still not old enough to need an automatic
So, for it to get a gold award from POCI, scoring 365/400, would this involve checking numbers etc. to confirm it was an original 409 car? Or is this award just given based on condition and not correctness of numbers/equipment?
This sounds like the car I have heard about years ago being built. There was a fellow locally that had a friend ( I thought in Florida, perhaps they both wintered there) building such a car and colours. I got the impression that it was not a numbers build but the way this guy talked about his own car and my CS convertible I could tell his dont know as much as he thought he did about Canadian Pontiacs.
Unfortunately after covid I wont be seeing this other fellow again to as as his car was up for sale and rumour has it his health has deteriorated
Take the 1 off the price, make price in cdn$ and maybe?
My thought exactly.

I would guess they hand the award out to "pretty" cars.
Where are the GM docs ... they will tell the true story.

Furthermore, if I owned this car, I'd be removing some incorrect items and adding others that are correct.

A report from Vintage Vehicle Services would put that car back into reality pricing in a hurry. It sure has been a useful tool to separate the wheat from the chaff in this country.
I don't think the seller is nuts but anybody who would give him that much without a bit of homework would have to be.
Hi... I know the car. I have pictures of it in Florida in 2018. I talked to the owner, in fact the owner approached me because he heard me say to wife "this a Canadian car". He approached me and asked how I knew and I told him it had to be a Canadian car because of the 409.
The car IS super nice. I'm not a Can. Pontiac with my background in Chevs, but the car is very well detailed. He told me he knows where there is another one in Ontario, he knows the owner. He told me this car was basket case when he started, so that tells me there was some "artistic" re-construction.
I only saw the car at night, in a crowded parking lot, never in the daylight. But I can tell you a 100 Pontiac guys would walk by this car and not know its origin, thinking it was "hotrodded" with the 409....
The owner of this car spent a ton of money on it, especially if it was a basket case. The problem is the US Pontiac guys wont want it for big money as its not a US Pontiac. Its not a 421 Swiss Cheese 63, as was said, so Id still say US$49,000 would be in the ballpark of a selling price. The owner likely has over $100,000 into it if he hired a resto shop to do the work.
An original 1964 Impala, very low mileage, documented from new, 4 speed, 327-300, just sold on hemmings for $39,900 including buyers fees. If it were a 409 car, likely sell for $10-15,000 more. It was not a vert though but it had all original nobody panels. Its a rare x frame that sells for more than $50-60,000.

What are the two trim coloured things on top of the parade top in picture # 7? And is that the correct aerial I should be looking for for our car?
Speaker "pods". Not the original aerial.

Definitely a gorgeous CS. Somewhat interesting improvisation of the end cap replacement just ahead of the passenger side wheel well. Speaking of wheels, I do like the offset which pushes the wheel out to fill the wheel wells. I suspect there is no tach because it is an automatic. I also agree with Don's suggestion that "US$49,000 would be in the ballpark of a selling price." I would be very lucky to get half of this in Canadian funds if I were to think of selling mine. It does cost a fortune to rebuild them.
