When I lived in Ottawa in the late 80's, The Lafayette in the Byward Market still had the quart bottles. They must have gotten them from Quebec as no one else on the Ontario side had them.

There was probably one exception to no quart bottles in Ontario and that was back in the 60's. Some of the older Windsor members from that era may remember those days.
In the late 60's when I lived in Windsor, we would venture off the Tecumseh Tavern in Tecumseh on Sundays afternoon because it was the only place open
on Sundays that served beer, but only with meals, and there they had the quart bottles of beer. Don't know how this place got them but they were always there.
Everything on Sundays was completely shut down.Nothing was open. Truly a day of rest.
In the 60's Windsor had more bars per capita than anywhere else in Canada. Probably because of the closeness to Detroit.
When last call hit the clock at 11:30 pm , (yes last call was 11:30) it meant bars were closing at 12:00 midnight.
That meant if you still wanted to drink, off the Detroit you would go to continue.
Working at Chryslers in 1971, and wanting to drink after the afternoon shift with the boys, the only option was drink at home or visit on of the local blind pigs in the neighbourhood.
Buying a case (24) of stubby beer cost $4.90 from the Beer Store. The 2 4 of beer cost most of the one hour ($5.20 an hour) I worked for to buy it.
In fine shape, is that the purple they used back in the day?
