Sun visor disassembly. What's the trick?

Is there a trick to getting the visor shaft out of the mount? It won't separate with the screw out. It won't pry open. I'm stumped. I see two slots, but for what?

This is just a old 65 visor and bracket I have, not the actual one now in the car. I'm replacing those with colour matching ones from Cliff.

I'd put the mount in a vise and give the shaft a tap with a punch & hammer. I don't think the shaft is rusted in as it appears to be in a plastic sleeve.

I suspect the screw will need to be fully removed as there is likely a groove in the rod for the screw.

I was going to mention this too, mine had a groove and found the hard way, fortunately it was on an old beat up practice set.

Thanks guys, yes , I do see the visor shaft has a clearance groove that the screw passes through.

Not mounted yet Cliff, but they cleaned up so nice. Look new. Thanks.
