Tire heights on the shelf versus on the car

LOL, you better believe there won't be whitewalls! If I can ever find a nice plug for the antenna hole in the fender the radio is coming out and that delete plate I got from you is going in. I want no options other than engine, trans, diff and chassis options. NO frills.

 Redwalls?

I'm hoping to find something nicer than that.

I have a GPS and also a selection of speedometer driven gears. I suspect if I drop down to a driven gear with one less tooth it will be back to accurate again but I haven't actually done the math yet to see. And my speedo head is actually wonky anyway! The odometer is currently bang on but the speedo is weird. If I take what it shows and double it I'm almost exactly on for km/hr. There's something wrong in the head but I'm not willing to rip the dash out to repair it, I just live with it and drive by the tach and GPS.

My Speedo is the same, 28 inch tires, 3.08 rears, with gps, just double the mph and its real close to the kph on the gps.

For a real Fake 66, you need to weld that hole shut and paint. Otherwise I can see it had a radio previously.

That won't be an option I'm afraid. I'm not messing around with original paint. There's a very small ding in the left front fender and the guys who do paintless dent repair say they can't push it out without a high risk of paint damage, so it stays as is.

No, that's musclecar stuff. I love redwalls but grandpa shouldn't have those on his car!

I want it to look very original right down to matching wheels and tire size all the way around.

Man I'm fussy.....

From the amount and way you drive the car why not put a good reproduction bias ply on it?

I'm a sissy, love radials, just can't bear the thought of bias ply and no power steering. That would be too much like when I was a kid and we were driving those country roads with those bias plies threatening to toss you into the ditch with every rut you caught.

I agree with Todd. For a original look the Strat really should  have the bias plies. Actually they'd look great too, better looking than a Korean radial.

I just love giving you a hard time on this.

If it's the one I saw listed on a site a while back they were over $200 US each. That doesn't fit my budget for this project! I'm on a fixed income, to say the least. Pretty much no income!

I had bias ply tires on my 60 Catalina and my 58 Plymouth with nary a problem (the Plymouth saw 90mph quite a few times-"closed course, professional driver") . The Cat had manual steering. You ain't driving that car on the dirt roads, are ya?

I even drag raced the Cat on those tires

Haha, nope it's only on pavement but I don't think anyone's going to talk me into bias ply. I love the manual steering but part of the reason for that is the radials make it so easy.

If you are comparing sizes do it the same way. Specs listed online are readily available.

I'm not sure what you are saying.
