This is so sad, rusted out from sitting 40 years ! As a kid, I use to go camping by the ocean in North Carolina, Cape Hatteras ... Beautiful country :)

That 66 Bonneville 421 tri, no room on the data plate for any more option stamping. And he leaves it behind. But I get it.

"Here's a piece of history" as he pulls rotten rally striping from the pace car, and hands it over... "I'll put it with all my other pieces of history" gotta love that.

Hopefully not too much. With all the work & logistics put into getting them.

Or what he sells them for.
Next generations won't care at all about these.

You are so right. Even cars that were topping out at high prices 10-15 years ago have fallen back.

You see it all the time as the hobby members age out. Example: my new to me 55 Bel Air was restored to original condition about 15 years ago. The number of people who want it this way is rapidly declining in favor of modernized cars or full blown resto-mods that younger hobbyists are more likely to buy.

As much as I like these cars in original style and condition, I'd even like to have power disc brakes and power steering on this car.

There's no fighting the demographic curve as the generations roll over.

I really like Dennis and what he does. I also like the way he treats people.

I'm not of the same mind towards his gas monkey friend however.

That said, you have to wonder how much of the gas monkey experience is simple showmanship.

It seems to be making him wealthy if you compare his activities today with what he was doing in the earlier days of that show.
