I think the 2566 in the old shifter number, the 468699 may be a serial number from what I read. The welded on handle means its late 60s as they went to the bolt on handle in the early-mid 70s Im guessing. The old ones like this were built for a particular use, maybe a universal shifter handle or it may be for a specific car, like say a bucket seat or bench seat 65 Impala with a Muncie.
My 63 vette had a shifter like that when I got the car, it had a Muncie in it.
Any shifter arms with numbers? A pic of the handle may help identify it.

Mine looked like this , never figured out what the red know was for, it wasn't connected to anything. I installed a correct Hurst bolt on shifter for the 63. The car was drag raced a lot, rode hard and put away wet.
