anybody else getting a message from paypal threatening to close account over inactivily

I have gotten a couple of messages like this over the last month

here is how it looks

I have a couple of points of concern with this

- i do have a paypal account but it is not linked to the email that this message is showing

- i use my present paypal account to pay my  ebay seller fees so it does have regular activity

- like i say i have gotten this message a  couple of times- the first time i went into my account and did a small withdrawal

i still got another one of these messages again yesterday - the inactivity fee they are talking about does not show up in my regular paypal account

just wondering if this is happening to anyone else

Scammers. I had one a little while back that if I remember right looked identical to this one.

You can check if it's legit by logging in to Paypal, click on the the little bell just left of "Log Out" and then view your messages.

Also, did the header on the email use the correct name for you, or did it just say "Paypal User". Paypal says they will always email you using the name attached to your account.

Click on the senders address to see where it is coming from.

Looks like a scam, though.

Just the beta at the beginning should tip people off.

Typical scam email.  The first tip-off is that it was received by an email address not linked to the account.

Got a similar one this week from a scammer pretending to be Bell.  Never click on the link or reply to the email to avoid problems.  If you hover the curser over the link it might tell you the address of the link, depending on your system, but anyhow it usually reveals that it is an address not related to what they say they are.

In my case it was obvious that the link they wanted me to click on was not Bell.  They tried to be tricky with the email address - it used @bella.com...

Ive received one, I never click a link. Went into PayPal, all was fine. I am an infrequent user, used it for eBay stuff and havent bought or sold anything there in eons.

Some of the scams now are very professional looking, even the return email or the address in the link looks correct. But if you hit reply without sending it, the return email is obviously a scam. Same for the good looking link, if you do what George said and get to see the real link. Ive seen quite a few really good looking email scams from Canadian banks.

My wife has been getting calls from CBSA on her cell. They leave messages, urgent. My son in law is a CBSA employee, he says they never call anyone.

Just be curious and don't take anything at initial thought. Common sense is slowly going away.
