Man, she looks frosty. At least it keeps the corrosion at bay. Do you have a cover in front of the rad Dave? What is your strategy to keep it warm out in the blizzard?
Quilted winterfront. Just like a big rig. Snaps onto the rad support. With flap doors. 195 thermostat. Heat is way better than a new high efficiency crap box from China. I cant plug in at work. So it's dead cold started every eve. Not happy. But it starts every time. Full synthetic is a must have because of this. Factory rear window defogger too. And seal the kick panel vents permanently.

Yes, it's funny how much you notice a poor seal in the kicks in the cold Dave. My 65 kick flap seals need attention. But If I turn on the heater blower to high the draught from them seems to stop.
How does she pull trough the deeper snow, it certainly looks as if it would run circles around most low riding imports.

Ya I think most restored cars would only last a day or so in the minus temps. Its a whole different ball game driving a 55 year old car in the cold. The studs are a must have. I personally went with a 205 75 15 tall skinny tire to cut thru the snow. I have no traction problems with the 6 power glide it really helps. If I was trying to feather a BBC off the sheer ice it might be different. Like I say this thing is built for the minus 35. And that's the forecast for tonight!!! But it will handle the day I throw at it.

You know its funny, last winter i was filling the car with gas on a minus 30 morning and the guy gassing up next to me yells over: "396?" i guess i should have played along, but my initial reaction was: "are you kidding, its a winter daily driver", the guy was actually serious tho, he thought it would have been a 396. weird?

My Chevelle came with a pair of 7.75-14 snow tires on 14x5 wheels, Kelsey Canada dated 1-67. Lots of tread depth, but 57 year old rubber? Back in '85 when I got the Chevelle I vowed never to let it see salt. One year when I did my final cruise there was significant snow coming down but salt hadn't been spread.
The Chevelle was built & shipped December 15/66, had snows from January '67 and was purchased off the lot by my aunt in March '67. It drove up & down the main drag of Caledonia as a demo unit for a couple of weeks.
Did you know that Snow Tires could be spec'd on your classic when new? RPO P23 - Snow Tires (2)
