An Excellent Pontiac Podcast talks about Canadian Pontiacs, Acadian's and Beaumont's.

I was approached a few weeks ago by a fellow by the name of Mark Zander. Mark hails from Illinois and is a passionate Pontiac fan. He was anxious to learn more about our cars and reached out to me asking if I'd be interested in being interviewed for an upcoming episode of his weekly Pontiac podcast. While I know a fair bit about these cars I felt our own Carl Stevenson would be a better fit since he's owned a few of these cars and has 40 years experience at a GM parts manager. Carl did a great job!

Here's part 1 of the podcast:

 LOL, thanks..........I think!

Anyway, if you guys listen and pickup on anything I left out or any mistakes I may have committed please let me know. I have thick skin and won't take it personally. My goal in doing this with Mark is educating people about our unique cars and we certainly want them to have their facts straight.

Mark is very professional and certainly is a genuine Pontiac guy. It was fun doing part #1 with him. I'm really looking forward to doing part #2 with him and even more if necessary. This one was 33 minutes but he and I talked for over an hour. There's quite a bit of editing.

Very enjoyable, Carl. Thanks for putting out there all those facts.

Any idea when Part II will be available?

Thanks and yes, when I listened to it I realized also, my "accent" really makes it truly Canadian! I can't wait until we talk about DEE-CALS! (deck-als for us Canucks!)

I don't recall if you mentioned the 2+2 version of Parisiennes in part 1. If not, maybe it'll come up in Part 2+ ? Wink wink.

Good reminder, yes I have that in my notes. I made a ton of notes to prepare for this podcast and so far we've likely only touched on maybe 20 or 25 percent of what I hope to discuss!

Yes, I want to explain how we started later than the US with the 2+2 and then ran later with it after the US quit making them.

Thanks Robert!

Seeing your reply got me thinking. If you happen to think of any misconceptions, ideas, etc that our American cousins have about Canadian Pontiacs by all means let me know. I would love to include them in the next podcast if Mark would be interested in doing that.

Make sure you say "motor" instead of "engine".

LOL, I'm still breaking him in, saving that for a future episode!

Did you notice I mentioned about calling the US Pontiac engines "blue blocks"? In our area that is what they were called when I was a teenage car nut in the 70's. I wanted to make sure he knew we weren't part of the "350 big block " or "400 big block" crowd. The US Pontiac guys get right out of shape when someone calls a Pontiac engine a big block!

Great job Carl, back in Quebec, when I grew up we would call a US blue block an American 400 and so on ...

Excellent job Carl, you were very professional and smooth, the interviewer is a good guy.

Surprised you went to those Pontiac conventions with those non Pontiac Acadians and Beaumonts though!!! They should have thrown you out.
