Grande Wagoneers and Cherokees especially, but I'm not too thrilled about them. I'd like to find a nice IH Scout.

Insane!  That's $112837.54 in Canadian funds at current exchange rates!

I've never been a huge fan of these, but obviously somebody is.  This one is very much like one that a friend had - I think it was a '78, brown with brown interior and no tape stripes.  One day a few of us went out into the woods with it, through a local well-used trail.  It was fun until we managed to get it buried to the axles in an area that used to be a sawdust pile next to an old abandoned saw mill.  We tried everything to get it out but it didn't budge (he didn't have a winch either).  A long time went by until we heard another vehicle - a Jeep - who we waved at for help but they kept on going... Finally, a couple of guys came by with a Suzuki Samurai who offered to help.  We never thought for a moment that a tiny little Suzuki would budge that big hulk of a Bronco (they had become quite rotund by the late seventies...) with its 33" tires bogged down to the axles, but that little thing surprised us in that he hooked it up and provided just enough of a tug to get the big old slug out of the sawdust.

On the way back out my friend was a lot more careful as to which pathways we took so we didn't get stuck again - it was getting dark and we would have had to spend the night there, probably, if the guys in the Suzuki hadn't stopped to help - it would have been a long walk out of there otherwise.  Not long after that, this guy bought a Jeep YJ - the Bronco was just too big and heavy to be a good woods vehicle.  My other buddy who was with us bought a Suzuki Samurai.  I never really caught the off-road bug, I just went along for the ride, so I just stayed with my old cars... they didn't cost a fortune back then.  biggrin

When I worked at Stratford Motor Products in Ontario we got a super clean Wagoneer in on trade. Black with maroon leather interior (no woodgrain) and aluminum wheels. I took it home and was really seriously considering buying it but thought the 4 grand ask was too steep. This was in 1998.
