Yes, I agree, the fees are extortionate, but if no need for the sticker, then no ETR in perpetuity tying bill payment to obtain that decal.

They'll be none too happy to loose that bulletproof tie in, which should give them fits.

Yes, I well know that some previous Ontario entity allowed this, but we can't go down that road here.

Last year when we could skip over to the US for 72 hours, My brother's friend got fined in New York State for having an expired Ontario tag.

No one has been required to renew since March 2020.

The Police office did not believe that you didn't have to renew then in Ontario.

I would be removing those old tags if you are heading for the US.

They can still read your plate so you will get billed, no matter if sticker there or not!!!

No, no, if I go to get my sticker and have an unpaid 407 bill, they will not give me the sticker.

Now I always pay my bills, so no effect, and I don't condone never paying it, but it's the fact they'll no longer have this yearly permit as a rock solid payment guarantee is the point.

You could not pay, but now it involves collection...and an added business cost to them.

No Charge to do that on I90 as of Feb 1st!!!!

That really makes the 407 look BAD!!

NY State is NOT able to fine you for a Canadian/Ontario tag. Out of their jurisdiction!! A $5 lawyer would get you off that charge. Speeding, DUI, unsafe vehicle yes... My .02 cents. You might get stopped at the border, but they only take a picture of your front plate.. You would have had to been a "problem" at the border in my thinking for this to happen

Service Ont. told me that you still have to renew registration and show proof of insurance when I changed over the Grandville. I was going to do the Yukon while there but they told me to wait till this week as to avoid charges. So I assume they put something on plate to show that??? Plates for GV were still good till April 23 from Impala
