COVID travel rules: Canada lifting pre-arrival test requirement | CTV News

Soon, most travellers entering Canada will not have to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test, CTV News has learned.

As of April 1, the federal government will be lifting the pre-arrival COVID-19 testing requirement at the border for fully vaccinated travellers.

Passengers may still be subjected to random PCR testing at the airport, and travelers will still have to use the ArriveCAN app to enter their proof of vaccination and other required information,

My timing sucks.

I'll be coming back from Cuba on the 31st, late at night. Just hours shy of this new initiative.

At least I will have been around 50s cars all week in Cuba.

Regards, Scott Jacklin

I suspect you'll still need to be tested to enter the USA.

No, you can drive across even now if you are fully vaccinated without a test. You only need to be tested to fly in to the US.

I just went to the US on Saturday.  Crossed at the Windsor tunnel.

You have to complete the ArriveCan and show proof of a negative rapid antigen test upon return.

I did my test at a CVS pharmacy, at a MinuteClinic (it was in a portable outside the building).  I booked my test online and gave a US address in order to book it.  When I got there the test was free, the lady there had pretty much only done Canadians covid tests that day.

The only problem is they were not able to email or text me.  I had to go back and get a print out of it from inside the pharmacy.

They also were doing rapid antigen test at the bridge for $45.00, we seen it on a billboard.

The security guard did not ask to see the negative test, he just asked whether we had done one.    My daughter and I spent $250.00 and I bought home $790 US of car parts and he did not make me pay.   Sometimes you get a good security guard.

I am glad they are going to drop the Covid testing, it was just one more added stress and took time out of my day.

Frank
