Bringing a dead 1962 Sears Silvertone TV back to life

Fascinating watching this guy bring this trashed old TV back to life. Learned a few things like "Reforming Capacitors"

Dying trade..Dad used to fix TV''s. Tube radios etc. Still has the training books from the 60's. Think I should be reading them!!!! The old thread. https://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/t65183535/for-robert-m-dads-radio-shop/   Dad still has the first TV he ever bought in 1962...it's under the bench!! We call the room the radio shop....

Wow! That's a cool "Radio shop". I have an old 1937 Westinghouse floor model radio that I had repaired about 5 years ago. I haven't turned it on since. I wonder if I have to do some sort of a procedure to fire it up in case the capacitors need reforming. Sounds like they can initially short out after sitting so long.

What an awesome looking shop. Even though no clue of what I'd be looking at, would love to spend some hours in there just checking it all out.

Yes, today's project pictured....

Shango is great, whitty, sarcastic - certainly entertaining.

Not afraid to share his views on anything. Invariably hilarious.
