Border crossing to pick up a package

I ran to North Dakota (25 miles) yesterday afternoon to pick up a parcel. I did the ArriveCan on the computer ahead of time, in the morning.

The border crossing went fine. On the way down, it was no different than 5 years ago. Where do you live, where you going, why, how long will you be, ever been arrested or charged, have a nice day.

On the way back, where are you from,  how long were you there, what are you bringing back, do you have the receipts for the items, do you have proof of vaccination?

Funny thing was, just before he told me I could go he said "You uploaded J****** Stevenson in your ArriveCan  (my wife's name!), you'll need to do it right the next time."  I kind of chuckled and said "how did I do that" but he wasn't too concerned. So overall, pretty simple but our ArriveCan account was all setup from when we came home from the US 3 weeks ago. The first time you do it, it takes a bit longer to fill out the question sheet but once the account is made it's not very tough.

Crazy thing is, my ArriveCan receipt has my name on it, not my wife's so I'm not sure what he saw on his screen that was different.

Anyway, nice to know it's not complicated now to run to the border for packages again.

Carl.. If you entered both names originally on the ArrivCan, I would imagine they still show up as per YOUR passport #

Just a thought

When my wife and I talked about it she suggested that as well. But I logged in using my email and password which is not the same as her's, so it seems odd that happened. I don't know how I'll prevent it from doing the same thing again next time.

I hope you are right, I wish I thought you are right but I have the feeling it's around for a while. It's actually pretty simple once you've entered it for the first time though.

Double check it again, you probably checked her off as a secondary traveller.

At the bottom of the screen is "Travellers", click that and I suspect your wife's name will be there.

No, the only place her name shows is the screen where both our names are shown and you check off which name you want. I checked only my name, that's why I don't get how her name showed up at Customs. I tried it again tonight as if I was going to do it again and checked the box beside my name only, same as I did for it yesterday.

Here's a pic with some of the detail erased for obvious reasons.

I'm just thinking, I wonder if he meant my wife's name was ALSO on the application? I assumed he meant I had entered ONLY her name on the application.

They don't hand you forms on the airplanes anymore, you can use the eDeclaration App, or one of the kiosks at the airport.

I thought you can also use it for land crossings, but maybe not yet.

Yes, when we flew 3 weeks ago we used a kiosk when we landed.

They say you can't fill it out more than 72 hours prior to pulling up to Customs. And actually when I came back, there was nobody in line but there was a guy parked where the line would be but about 4 car lengths back, with nobody in front of him. I finally went beside him and he was on his phone. I suspect he was filling out his ArriveCan right there!

Went over today to pick up Packages. They had four lanes open on the way back each lane had 10 to 12 cars in it mostly American license plates. They have not opened up the nexus line yet
