1965 Pontiac Parisienne Convertible Body Mounts Issue!!

Evening All. After a few years its time for body mounts. However the full size frame comes with two sizes of body mounts marked as A and B, 7 of each and ABSOLUTLY no one can tell me where or what body position uses the A mount or B mount. This is after long (And I am NOT Joking Here) numerous discussions with every single supplier of OEM rubber  mounts. Can anyone!!!!  tell me which is which for the 1965 Pontiac Parisienne Convertible OEM Rubber Mounts goes in what frame position.   BM BH A Smaller - BM BA B is the larger mount. Any help is greatly appreciated. Jim

When I did the chassis swap on my 70 Parisienne I kind of tossed all the old ones in a bag and then had to determine what went where. I eventually figured it out, and documented it so will go through my info.

When you say 7 each, it sounds familiar to the kit I bought from Impala Bob's, it came with way more than needed. An extra kit is required for the radiator support.

Pretty sure the smaller ones are used in the 4 positions behind the differential, larger ones on the 2 positions on the firewall and 2 positions just ahead of the differential.

Is the car still on the chassis?

I know I have photo's here somewhere, but this will serve it's purpose.  Attached is a photo from a 69, but the chassis are basically the same 65 - 70:

body mounts.JPG

Position 1:  Will use the larger mount.

Position 2:  You will need to re-use your original.  These basically look like a hockey puck with a male portion on the bottom that goes into a hole in the chassis.

Position 3:  Same as Position 2.

Position 4:  Will use the larger mount for the top, and you will have to re-use the bottom part of your original.

Position 5:  Not used in your application.

Position 6:  The drawing seems to call for the larger mount, I'm pretty sure I used the smaller mount.

Position 7:  The drawing seems to call for the larger mount, I'm pretty sure I used the smaller mount.

As I said above, the kit contains more than required, considering Positions 2 & 3 will not be in the kit and you'll need to use the originals.

Thanks for your time. Appreciated. The Car ended up as a complete frame off so no, body is still off and original mounts were so damaged there was no telling the difference when the body came off. Your kit was designed for numerous frames, the reason for the 14 rubber mounts in your kit. The convertible requires all 14. I made a mistake they are divided up as 8 mounts small and six larger. So based on your advise and mount positions that would place the 6 larger mounts at the heaviest points of the body which would make sense, 4 front and 2 over shock mounts. That leaves the 8 smaller in the lower frame positions. I will post a picture today when I get it organized.

As indicated, Positions 2 & 3 do not use the mounts shown in your photo's. They're a hockey puck design as there is nowhere in the body for a bolt to go into. Position 5 is not used in a convertible application.

When I did my chassis swap, and was trying to figure things out, I looked at my other 1970 cars to see what was where. I've since parted out a 70 Impala hardtop and 70 Parisienne convertible, I'm pretty sure all used the smaller mounts in Positions 6 & 7.

On this application there are 14 mounts with frame bolting hardware in every position including position 5 as per the diagram. Not sure why this would be unique in nature, but your diagram I think solved the big mystery. Appreciate all your efforts here. Pictures to follow.

Ok. I'm not 100% familiar with 1965 bodies, but for 1969 & 70 there is no holes in the body to accept the mounting bolts for Positions 2, 3 & 5.

Greatly appreciate your time on this. Due to the condition of the mounts and hardware nothing survived. This way I at least know the length of the bolts which is extremely helpful. Thanks again. Cheers.

I think it's Important to point out for all that look for guidance here for there projects, that all NEW OEM rubber mounts are NOT the same size as the original Pontiac factory mounts. The holes in this frame were perfectly intact and were exactly the same size. With that said you will have to trim each mount to fit your frame.

Classic industries OEM replacement 1965-66 Full Size Convertible Body Mount Bushing Set. All sellers of these bushings had the same set with the exception of mounting hardware.
