People often confuse this one with the Mystery Motor.

So many completely different 427s Carl, the W, the Mystery, and yours. Not sure, did any parts interchange at all?

From what I know, and subject to correction-

The W is on it's own I think.

I know the intake/heads on the Mystery are unique also because in he 80's by total accident I bought a Mystery intake (swap meet). I thought it was for a Mk IV engine and when I got it home, it didn't fit. I don't know W engines at all, so I ordered an intake gasket for a W thinking it would fit that intake and it wasn't that either. A guy on Hemmings in Michigan specialized in Mystery engines, so I called him and we were able to determine what it was. Since then I've seen pictures of Mystery intakes online and that is exactly what it was. As far as the bottom end I don't know if anything on the Mystery is shared with either of the other engines. Clearly the block won't be but maybe crank/rods/cam or some of the little stuff?

I think from what I've read, the Mystery motor was a stroked 409 that was experimental and pre-Mark IV introduction for production. I would like to think they were experimenting with different strokes and bores to make an advancement in the cubic inch wars going on at that time. My 2 cents.........
