Looking for information about identifying my engine specs

Hey everyone,

I am in need of some information as to how to identify the engine in my 1952 Canadian Pontiac. I have the engine information from the ID plate as W210912. Also, you can see the info in the photo I have included.

I am doing my best to get the car on the road... currently looking for a Carter WA-1 carburetor as mine is busted, and other engine parts... so, knowing the size of the engine and all the specs would be helpful in buying parts.
Mostly I have just been buying parts for a 1952 Chevy Styleline, but the carbs are different, so that is unhelpful. Next is distributor cap, rotor, plug wires, and manifold gaskets, so this is where the engine specs will be necessary.

Any help would be ideal. Thanks.

Awesome, thanks for clarifying that.
My next question would be... do you know what types of Carburetors will fit on this engine? The one that is currently on it is a Carter WA-1, and it is cracked at the top where the air filter fits on and it is sucking air and causing a bad mix. Ideally I would rebuild it, but I am not sure if this is possible. Finding another WA-1 is proving difficult, so do you know of any other carbs that will fit this engine?

Thanks again for your help.

Jason

OK, so, after meeting with the mechanic who told me about the "crack"... I find that it is not cracked. Excellent! All I need now is a rebuild kit for all the gaskets (they are all leaking)... and for that I do need to know what model the Carter WA-1 I have is.
I am pretty sure there isn't a way to do that without removing the carb... so I will be doing that tomorrow.
Still, any help and direction on identifying these parts would be great.

It appears that according to Motors auto repair manual your carburetor would be a 717S or 718S. I dont know what the difference would be between the two models of carburetor unless one is for an automatic transmission. It will give you a start to find a carb kit.

BRILLIANT! Thanks so much Paul. That saved me SO MUCH frustration. I have found several places to get that kit now and after I pull out the carb and take a closer look at it, will be ordering so I can rebuild it.

Awesome!

Again... Thank you so much.

Check with Jon at The Carburetor Shop in Missouri, he has the best kits, not cheap but the best.

www.thecarburetorshop.com/Kpontiac1.htm He has 719 and 720 listed on his site for a Pontiac 239. Give him a call.

A friend of mine uses an ultrasonic cleaner for cleaning carbs. I think he bought it from Princess Auto. I dont know what kind of cleaner he uses in it though.
