2955272 is 1969 model year 396 / 402.
B-25-9 is February 25 1969 casting date.

So, it was cast February 25 1969 to be used in the 1969 model year cars, which seems pretty early. Maybe someone else can chime in.

 Gord, is there a stamping on the deck in front of the passenger cylinder head?

these blocks came out in Sept 1968- June of 1969
