They had rain on and off in Detroit that weekend so I bet the numbers were down.

Got to see some cool cars coming back to Canada early on the Detroit Tunnel Cam biggrin

Yeah, it was a blast.  Estimated 1.5 million visitors, and 40,000 cars brought in - bearing in mind that the majority of what's out on the boulevard bears Michigan plates.  Busier than I've seen it, veteran of '08, '13, '15, '16, and '19.

Sadly, the Beaumont was running too hot, and I ended up taking another toy.  Which, in turn, encountered problems, and my first two days were spent in high anxiety trying to get her sorted out.  O2 sensors mistakenly installed horizontally into the exhaust by the builder, BOTH failed.  The LS ECM compensated by overfuelling, and the impeller on the water pump detached itself from its driveshaft, eventually.

BUT, if you're gonna have complex LS issues, no place better than Motown to get 'em addressed.  The old girl carried me up to Goderich, and on to Blue Mountains, before our return home, an 800 mile jaunt over two days.

Suspect it was the biggest year, ever.  People desperate to get back to normal after two years of bunkering in.  Saw everything from a '16 T-bucket pickup, to a Bugatti Veyron.  The old Caddy got a ton of attention, probably more than the Beaumont would've, and I even had an offer to buy it, unsolicited.

Will be back, next year, with the Beau, and even more Tar Heels.  Let me know if any of y'all might be interested in attending.  I'm looking at blocking some rooms in the place we stay in - feel guilty imposing on our hosts (a Penske-owned company) when none of us are really legitimate customers.  Curbside, covered space, with catered food and abundant booze, just south of Long Lake on the west side of Woodward.

The rain descended late on Saturday, around 5 p.m., so the penultimate evening wasn't quite as "big" as it would've been, but it was wall-to-wall most of the day Saturday.  Took us about 2 1/2 hours to do a circuit from Long Lake to the Zoo (I-696) twice, then we settled back in to watch the parade.

Highlight for me was a ride in a buddy's '70 GTX 440-6 Pak four speed that his dad gave him when he graduated, back in the Paleolithic era.  Non-matching block, but the guy who caused that still owns the car.  I have no doubt his heirs will have their Barrett-Jackson TV moment once he's gone to his just reward.
