Shipping, once again..........sigh........

I did parts for 40 years, and I still don't understand how this can be more efficient that a bit more direct route the way it used to be done back in my earlier years.

I ordered a small item from Idaho and this is the path its taken so far. We live 1/2 hour south of Winnipeg.

This may be why Ebay Canadian customers are finding shipping being too expensive for the

the cost of the item they want to buy.

Not the site it used to be.

This was actually a direct transaction with a business this time though George.

And the Ebay global shipping isn't always excessive, just some of the time. It's like there's no pattern to it.

I recently bought a cruise control kit out of the US and the Ebay global shipping to my door was considerably less than if I dealt direct and used the post office.

Try an top this one..... Ordered 2 NOS window regs for my 66 last year from the Buick farm in Connecticut last year. Part went south to NY (Kennnedy Airport) then to Nassau, south to Georgia, south again to 3 terminals in Florida then to Atlanta, back to NY, then to Montreal, then to Mississauga in Ontario (2 weeks from Mont to TO), then to Barrie back to Toronto and finally to Barrie and from there to ME!!!!!!

HONEST...13 different stops and it arrived in perfect condition... Unbelievable

I wanted just the Airmiles for my card...LOL

Here's something I found out buying manuals/catalogs. The US postal service has a rate for published material, cheap, that shippers use. The catch, every piece, MUST go through I think its Tennessee or Atlanta.
I found this out calling the seller of a book I bought and he told me that was how he shipped his books. He was in Ohio, less than a 100 miles from Detroit/Windsor and 240 miles to me.
The tracking # showed me where it went...Unreal.

And that's the reason USPS is raising their rates!!!!

All the stuff you buy on Ebay that is shipped through their Global Shipping Program is shipped to Erlanger Kentucky. It doesn't matter if I order a part from Pembina North Dakota (25 miles from here), if it's Global Shipping, they send it to Kentucky! I've seen some stuff go a lot of extra miles.

The item I mentioned at the start of this thread has now gone 4000 km and will go another 2500 km to get to me. The purchase point is 1700 km from here.

I stand corrected, it is Kentucky. I knew it was some "odd" state that you would not expect to have a shipping terminal
