Nice (lucky) find today

Every so often something cool comes along that renews my faith in "the stuff is still out there".

Last night about 10:00 I was online on a little local Swap and Shop type page for our rural area. Scrolling through the Automotive section that includes everything from vehicles to parts to boats, to bikes to car manuals to you-name-it.  What do I see but a familiar face.........!

You better believe I messaged right away and made arrangements to make the 35 minute ride first thing this morning. By 8:15 AM money had changed hands and I was on my way home. Apparently way back when the car this tach was in was racing, I assume street racing, wrecked and stripped for parts. This tach has been sitting around for a long time supposedly, and it looks like it wasn't out in the sun a lot. The faces on these things always fade bad and the green is still nice and green.

I have one in my car now. This one is actually correct for early 65 models. Late 65 models and all 66's have the green line changed to red starting around 5100 RPM. Other than that the units are identical.

One thought I had was to buy a 65 to put it in!

If only it had the 66 face... I guess I should just be happy for the find.

Perhaps it could be an upgrade for my '64? I could tell people it's been in the car since '65!
