Tacoma versus a Moose

Had an encounter Wednesday morning with a moose, sadly it was killed and the truck didnt make it much further either. As it turns out, after talking with locals, she has been hanging around at the end of that corner charging at vehicles. Its pretty freaky having a huge black beast come out of nowhere on a dark forest road and no time to react.

I was alright, but I was in shock for a bit. And the next morning I really did not want to drive on that road again.

No.
I figure it would have but due to the angle it hit, it did not set them off.

Years ago my brother bought a written off full size 80'ish Buick station wagon that he thought had been rolled.  When he got it home he figured out what had really happened. There was moose hair caught under mouldings, the roof rack etc. Scary to think of going under an animal that big.

Did u have your seatbelt on? That angle should have set off the bags... Good 6" of the bumper corner missing, sensor should be right there...

But I attended worse and the bags didn't go off too ... Not a good sign, but I don't think you were traveling that fast either.

Ouch is right, bags need a hard stop to blow off. A lot of stuff it takes into consideration before they go off.
But ya glad your not hurt.

Lucky you have a tall vehicle, on a car the body of the moose is at the height of your hood, they often come through the windshield. Bumper hardly gets a scratch as you hit their knees with it. Saw a rcmp 91 ish caprice that a Mountie died in, the moose went inside the car through the windshield.

Wow, so glad youre okay. On the west coast always hear of these incidents in more eastern parts of the country but this was in Bc? Either way so scary.
