Thumbnail Photo undefined for 1955 Pontiac Chieftain

1955 Pontiac 2 Door Wagon (Chieftain maybe) made in Canada. 1 owner, only 10 made.

SUPER Rare! runner Runs and drives, some rust on drip rails along the floor in front seat

but otherwise really solid car. Interior original, decent shape but will need some love.

Ornament on the hood doesn't belong, obviously.

According to the Encyclopedia of American Cars produced by Consumer's Guide

860 Chieftain 2 door wagon   8620 produced

Seller says this was produced in Canada, not quite sure about a Chieftain produced here.

According to Cars & Parts Catalog of Canadian Car I D Numbers the Chieftain 2 door wagon

is listed but shown to be produced in the US. The Canadian Pontiacs are listed as produced in Oshawa and

the Chieftain and Star Chief are listed as produced in Pontiac and show the 287 cid engine.

This is not a Canadian built car. Oshawa built the Pontiac Pathfinder 2 door station wagon in 1955. This is the only station wagon built in Canada by Pontiac that year. There is no side chrome on a Pathfinder in 1955. In 1956 Pontiac Canada also built both 2 and 4 door station wagons. both years the standard engine was a 261 six cylinder or an optional 265 V8. This car looks to be very solid but the price is very high.
