A friend invited me on a trip of a lifetime. 

He had won a trip to California.  The trip included Laguna Seca, so I said i was in on it.

We planned one day at the Jim Russell School and at the end of the day that was not enough.  We did some fancy budgeting at the dinner table in our rented motor home and found a way to afford another day. 

For me the best instructor comment was about how i was able to get back on the throttle right after braking in the corner.  

On day 2 the track was open to other drivers and their machines.  A Can Am car was there using the track at the same time as the 2 somewhat novice drivers took up space on the race surface.   At one time the Can Am car BLEW BY ME!!!!!!  and from that point on it was watch the MIRRORS!!!!

It was tough but i really did fit into that yellow Formula Ford.

Dart  Swinger   with capital D

6000 rpm in 4th 138 mph was a common activity.  Set up to run high speed slaloms and  bring home the trophies.
