Learned something new today

Learned a new  little tidbit of information on 67-69 Pontiac Firebirds today. I had no clue before, but they had an option for factory installed traction bars. Not the slapper bar type, but a trailing arm type. Rear ends and floor had a bracket on them. Bolted to the rear end and to the floor under the rear seat. Pretty cool.

A friend had a 68 Firebird sprint with one traction bar.

Yes, I think 4 speed cars only, right?

I honestly dont know, but this car is an original 4 speed car, so you are probably correct. I was just thumbing around on David Ts site and seen a few with this factory item. I never heard tell of it until now.

I seem to remember this was maybe a "trans Am" option one year. Then it was installed in production if you checked the right boxes...
