Is it possible to have purchased a 6 cylinder 65 Custom Sport new? Wow, if so that once again proves I'm never too old to learn. I would have bet a V8 Custom Sport was all that was available. At any rate, what a fine looking car.

Yes, super rare but they certainly do exist. I had just never even thought of the possibility of a Custom Sport 6.

I just went to the model information in the Pontiac parts book.

1965 shows a model 765 or 766 for Custom Sport. 765 is a 6, 766 is a V8.

In 1966 Custom Sport became an option on Parisienne, option A51 so there's no way to tell if this 1965 was a one year only thing or not without some GM documentation. According to the info in the book, this car could be the real thing.

According to Cars&Parts Catalog of Canadian Car ID Numbers there definitely were L6 engines in the Custom Sport in '65.

1966 shows only V8 in Grande Parisienne.

Interesting point they show the 65 weighing 3464 lbs and price $3446, that's about a buck a pound......smile

Yes, I've seen the SS with a 6 but never a Custom Sport. Anyone ever seen one before?
