68 396 ET Suffix Code

I was in to see my good friend who owns an engine machine shop-he has a 396 engine-complete with exhaust manifolds -brackets etc no carb- date code is B8 (feb 68)and partial vin with ET stamping  -I know this would be correct for a  68 chevelle with auto-does the Beaumont use the same suffix? He was told by the former owner it was out of a Beaumont-it needs total rebuilt-but he is wanting to sell it as is-or rebuild for a new owner-any idea on value?I told him $1,500-$2,000 as is-

Thanks in advance!

Keep on Cruising!

I would say if it's correct for a Chevelle it's also correct for a Beaumont. Can't help you on the value.

I concur that Beaumonts & Chevelles used the same ET code Tonawanda-built 396. If it needs a total rebuild it should not be a problem, so long as you don't have to sleeve any cylinders. It sounds good that the block hasn't been decked (as in the code / stamp is still readable).

The "ET" code was for a 68 396 w/TH400 for a Beaumont or Chevelle.
