My alignment guy sold his rack. Bummer.

Just learned. Mike, the owner of my local little shop sold his alignment setup. Says he never used the rack enough, and needed the room.

Mario, his mechanic (the only one) is a old school mechanic that gave you exactly what you wanted, knew his 60's stuff. He did both of my cars.  Said it was a pleasure to work on em'. Owner Mike always had to go back to talk (negotiate) with Mario, to see if he would do it. Yea, the Mechanic was the boss and it made me laugh. But Mikes really a great guy.

It was a older rack system, but it read good according to Mario, here's some image of it,

Gee, he even knows how to drive a standard too!

Yes, it sucks when the old guys retire or the equipment for our old stuff gets sold off or scrapped.

It might be a bit of a hike for you guys but Tiny's in Ingersoll does alignments and Jeff the owner is an old school alignment wizard.

There is still guys out there doing old stuff so far. The trick is to have it close to home.

They are starting to retire as well; you can only hope that some of the skills get transferred along the way.

Pretty simple stuff... Couple pieces of string out in the carport should get her organized...LOL

I've actually done that Bruce. And it actually came pretty darn close. Hey, wait a minute now, no making fun of the carport...

Here's the thing, I actually would like to play with the alignments a little. Any thoughts on a setup I could buy other than the string, but not spend too much?

This was "String" on the 67

Caster is difficult. Toe, easy. I can actually eyeball camber.

 Sorry... the Florida garage!!!!  LOL

Been putting some miles on mine... I know it needs an alignment. I don't know if I can get it done this year.  Going to lower it first, then align it. I'm going to have to find a alignment guy that's my age too to understand what I want... I also think I need to upgrade the sway bar to help..

Mark,

I am ordering the magnetic caster/camber set up tool off eBay. $12.50 and free shipping to my place in Florida. I want to get my Catalina close so I dont need to trailer it to the alignment shop. You can borrow it when you want.
I will be using Kaufmans Automotive on Bleams road in Kitchener. Really good mechanic old stuff or new stuff. Did the alignment on a club members Jag. that the dealership wouldnt touch. Said it was too old.

Thanks Bill. Good idea to get it close. My alignments are good, so no real need as of yet. It's just sad to see them going.

Enjoy the sun.
