Happy New Year! Our first feature car for 2023 belongs to Brad Haysom who hails from Burnaby, BC. Brad found this clean 1965 Acadian Canso Sport Deluxe for sale in Ontario and with some inspection help from a Poncho member he pulled the trigger and had it shipped to British Columbia. The car required minimal work however Brad did do some upgrades to improve drivability. Take it away Brad:
"Back in 84’ I had a 65 SD so when I saw this one on kijji I had to grab it. I actually thought it could be the same car. It was in Ontario and luckily one of your long time members, DualQuad Pete, was kind enough to go do an inspection for me.

The fellow I purchased from in Ontario had just had it shipped from Alberta a few months prior but he inherited a car in the meantime so sold the Acadian.
Once I had it shipped to Coquitlam BC and in my hands it was a happy day. I've done a few things to try to bring it back to original look, but it didn’t need much. It came with a 300hp 350. I've changed the rear end to 3:55 posi and installed a 200r4. The front brakes have been converted to disk. This winter project will be to get a few more HP out of the engine.

That car is really pretty, beautiful in fact. Pretty rare as well, and in an unusually nice preserved state.
Years ago I fell in love with a '65 Nova SS that wore the same colours and was in the same condition as yours, with a factory 283.
Even the original 194 would move the car just fine since they are so light, while a 350 300-horse would boss that car around like a toy. The drivetrain & brake upgrades sound perfect.

White on red! Now that's a beautiful colour combination on a wonderful car. Same colours as were in my 65 Parisienne convertible years ago. Congratulations on the feature.

Thanks for all the responses. The car is a beauty to drive and light up on occasion. Im part way through changing a few things in the engine compartment to bring it more era correct. Ill try to post a few pics when complete.
