My 1998 K1500 is coming back together, is it difficult to do my own AC? I see some kits on Amazon. It lost all its R134A, condenser was toast. Says it takes 2 lbs.
I want to pressure test it before I get the system all back together.
All advice welcome.
Thanks,
Don

if you're putting it all together yourself, all you have to do is be sure to use all new seals, and make sure it will hold pressure.
You can buy kits from the likes of Princessauto that are specifically designed to recharge air conditioning - it's not the original style refrigerant, but works pretty good.

If you do it yourself you will need a vacuum pump to remove the moisture from the system. Any moisture in the system will cause corrosion to the aluminum components in the system. You will also need to add refrigerant oil to the system also. An A/C recharge machine does it all easily. The do it yourself kits from places like Princess Auto use a mixture of butane and propane as the refrigerant.
