454 Laurentian in Germany

I was recently contacted by the 2nd owner (Norm) of the 454 Laurentian, he's the fellow who was driving it when it was hit in the early 90's.  He sold it to the 3rd owner (Doug), who repaired the collision damage and sold it to Hillar Pinna in the late 90's.  I bought it from Hillar's estate in 2011, and I sold it in early 2016 to a fellow (Bob) here in Calgary.   He sold it a couple years later to a fellow (Martin) in Germany, who redid the engine.   He sold it a couple years ago to someone else in Germany.

After Norm contacted me, I put him in touch with Doug as they were college classmates and wanted to reconnect.  I got wondering about the present condition of the car.

I contacted Martin in Germany, who got a hold of the present owner.  He's painted and modified the car, I hope you're sitting down:

Oh well... his car, his money.  Historic Canadian car shipped overseas means its historical significance might not be appreciated.  That said, the same or worse could have happened to it here.

In the end it's just a car that was built to serve a purpose, so in that sense it's still serving a purpose, which is better than being recycled...

Kind of reminds me of how my old Laurentian looks today. "These cars don't get no respect!"

Well? I do like the number sequence on the license plate..... the rest? Owners preference.

At least that 454 can stretch it's legs on the autobahn. You try that in Ontario and your car will be impounded for 30 days.

As for the under appreciation for the historical significance, there was a German Borgward Isabella coupe in Ancaster I remember in the sixties & seventies. Nobody showed them the same regard as in their own country, so ditto. It became lawn art, and we know what parking over grass does...

On second thought,  the car is painted top & bottom, the rubber is fresh, it is getting used & enjoyed. It's only paint. And hood pins, and dash pad...

A clutch would improve it though.

I inquired, the owner wants to keep them with the car.

Makes me regret not contacting you back then.  I had thought about it, actually.

 Is it for rent?

I agree about black and red... I have 3 black cars and one red one... and one of them is black with red int.  Not Pontiacs though.  However, green is the only right colour for this car...

Looks like a 1969 Road Runner... or at least a Satellite with a 1969 Road Runner hood on it.  The Pontiac already looks better by association! biggrin

Have to be careful with those dodges, keep them in a warm dry place, they stall if a dog lifts its leg and gets the tire wet or leaves a puddle near it. You youngins may not get this?

That big chrome grill surrounded by all that black paint would be pretty scary in many rear view mirrors our in the Autobahn left lane.

One of my favourite sized trucks was an 87 Dakota 4x4 8 ft box; my first car was a 52 Plymouth 2 door hardtop. My second was a 61 Valiant, 3 on the floor slant 6. I have also owned Fords, 4 of them, 3 had 3 pedals. 4 Toyotas, the 84 Camry was the worst car Ive ever owned. Ive owned 5 GM daily drivers, 5 GM old cars. My 63 Parisienne is my favourite, nice enough but not so nice I dont want to leave it parked at Canadian Tire.
