So I'm reading HOT Rod The First 12 issues and a guy writes in about
seeing a girl holding a chromed dropped axle in their 'Parts with Appeal'
section. Remember this is 1948.
Guy asks where he can buy it and how much.
HRM replies So Cal Speed Shop  $20.00 and it is chromed.
 
Even with 15x inflation that would only be $300 today.
 
If you like this era, this book is a must for early Hot Rod enthusiasts.
The pics, explanations and letters are amazing. They even talk about cops
using radar for speeders.
They also explain Rootes vs centrifugal superchargers and why stroking is so
advantageous..
It is a reprint of all issues from 1948.
