haha, that's awesome!! I'm an Engineering Manager and always tell my staff to try and look at it from the fabricator/contractor's perspective but I'm guessing here they had the drawings upside down??!! I know you can buy 'precut' stringers, I guess Home Depot etc. better start putting 'this way up' on them or they open themselves up to liability.....good grief, some people shouldn't be allowed to own a hammer.

Unless I'm missing something here ( the humour ) ... those steps were actually attached correctly on the other end of the deck. They are just leaning there out of the way for demo or reno.

 No I don't think you're missing it as you are correct, it's just the way they are sitting it 'appears' they were built that way

I figure they placed the steps that way.. took the picture and created the conversations were having
It really wouldnt be a surprise to see something like this though
