Interesting.

On another Jay Leno topic, I saw this auction that included a Tour for 4 for Jay's Garage : https://www.32auctions.com/organizations/70862/auctions/146098?r=1&t=all

I read an article about a year ago about collector car tires. Several people ordered tires from a reputable tire company that manufactures and deals in tires for collector cars. When the tires arrived they were still wrapped in plastic and when unwrapped they had bad checking in the treads and sidewalls. The manufacturer dates showed that the tires were over ten years old! The company replaced them but be sure to check the manufacturer dates on the new tires you buy!

Back in 1992 when I changed the tires on my Chevelle, I was told by the Firestone rep that they still had Deluxe Champion E78-14 bias ply tires, new, from 1976.
I passed & bought radials. I wish I could still get those same radials today, P195/75R14 size with correct whitewalls.

As for certification, is there a age limit where they will be disqualified?

There is a recommendation in Ontario that tires shouldnt be older than ten years but nothing in the safety inspection standards as far as an age limit for tires. Page 82

Would the name of that company begin with "C"?

The main tire shops around here have policies against touching tires over 10 years old. It seems to me newer tires crack sooner than tires did in the past.
