Restored 1964 Pontiac Parisienne Custom Sport Convertible With a 409

We may have seen this before.....smile

In Canada in the Sixties, GMs Oshawa plant produced Chevrolet and Pontiac models and the full-size Pontiacs such as this 1964 Pontiac Parisienne Custom Sport Convertible shared much of their...

Bernie... I've seen this car in Florida, I have posted pictures here of it before. It was just advertised for sale somewhere else recently. If my memory is correct he was looking for around $150K for the car....

He was looking for closer to $200US in the recent fixed-price Hemmings listing.  The commentary section includes observations from when it was tagged with a pretty optimistic ask.

I'm thinking $75US is likely his ceiling in this market.  It's a lovely restoration, but not matching-numbers provenance, and the only concession to modern tastes is the addition of the 700R.

Plus, like it or lump it, the Canada-only models don't resonate with the vast majority of the U.S. collector hobby market.  My Beaumont attracts a certain level of curiosity when it's shown in public, but my '62 Impala, '53 Caddy and '78 Cutlass draw semi-serious buyers, unsolicited, where there doesn't appear to be much interest in a "Canadian Chevelle".

This just sold yesterday:

Fuel-Injected 1964 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Coupe for sale on BaT Auctions - sold for $35,500 on August 28, 2023 (Lot #118,457) | Bring a Trailer

...which I thought was maybe a bit on the low side.  Could be the seasonal effect, or the growing preference for LS/Coyote/Gen III Hemi powertrains over updates to '60s engines.

1. He could get GM Canada documents on this car, as built including options, was it originally a 409 car would probably affect the value as it would be extremely rare. I think he says one of 3 built but nothing to back that up.
2. He says a 409 block was a bored out 348 and thats why it was common for them to crack like he says the original block did. Wrong, the 409 was a new casting, like a 283-327-350 were not the same block.
3. Sounds like it was a pretty rough car to start with, they replaced the back half of the frame and the majority of the body mounts. The work looks fantastic from here.

His reserve is likely way higher than the US$75,000 I agree it may be worth. His starting price of $150/200K was likely in the neighbourhood of the cost to build this- Im assuming he hired out all the work to-quoting him- the best painter and best engine builder in Florida.

With 7 days left its at US$17,500.

Yes, imho.

My 63 shroud is different than a 64, which does have a different bolt pattern than prior years, but it should be shorter front to back like mine. IMG_0226.jpeg
