1966 Custom Sport or Impala SS Automatic Console, Shifter, Mounting Brackets etc.

I'm parting a 66 Custom Sport 283 Powerglide hardtop.

This is the console and shifter from it. As you can see, I have not yet removed the shifter. That is because if someone buys it, I want them to tell me how they want it removed. I can cut out a big area of floor that includes the shifter, console mounting brackets, hump etc as one piece or I can do it all in pieces.

As you can see, someone was drill-happy with the console. The 4 small screw holes at the front are from the base of a tach that was there and the bigger hole in front of those was for the tach harness.

The console has pitting and at the back, the lens is missing and crazy as it sounds, at the top of where the lens would be it looks like a dog chewed on it! Certainly repairable with some patience. Also, the console lid is not perfectly flat, it's slightly bent as is often the case. The console includes the complete uncut wiring harness which plugs into the special dash harness I have listed in a different ad with the dash.

The shifter will also come with the unique shifter linkage for the trans.

$225 for everything plus actual shipping costs.

I might be able to arrange free delivery from Manitoba to the Calgary/Edmonton area in a couple of weeks.

I'll be listing more stuff but feel free to PM me with requests for parts from the car.

Unfortunately they have just enough rust all over the place to make them not worth saving and if the car was to be restored it would be less work to replace them than to patch all the little spots.

The final nail in the coffin to make this car not restorable was all the areas that had rusted under the vinyl top.

Everytime I see a setup like this for sale at a decent price, I'm always tempted to buy it.

I already have an email from someone asking about it but he hasn't posted here. I thought I better mention that in case someone would see that no one has showing interest in it yet.

Anybody know how many Custom Sports were made in '66?  I don't recall ever having seen one in person.

Yep, now I have two consoles with no lens!

I don't know if it's the same, hopefully someone will answer. If it is the same and if you aren't in a hurry and if I do sell it with the shifter and console as a unit you're not totally out of luck. In the winter I'll be removing another automatic hump from another car to do a four-speed conversion on it.

Seems the hump is in the same area. And screw holes seem match. That's the console I got.

 That sure looks right.

So yes, if you can wait until winter when I start the 4 speed conversion on my Grande Parisienne I'll save that hump for you.

Carl... that floor cut out seems very "smooth and nice". I thought, was told, there were cut out with a torch?

I blew it up, this shows the torch cut better.

And the one I just removed from the Custom Sport is certainly torch cut as well. I haven't seen an original cut yet that wasn't done with the torch.

It wasn't that guy's first "4 speed cut". Whew...that's pretty neat for the car moving down the line...probably a Wednesday AM shift.... LOL

I'm betting they had a template they put on the bare floor and a very refined torch with the exact correct heat setting
