I'm thinking the majority of you won't know what it is, or even if you guess right, you've likely never seen it on a 65 or 66.

I should have been more specific! Anyone have one on a Canadian 65 or 66?

Clint, are you thinking this is the ignition module or a voltage regulator? This is the voltage regulator and I'm wondering if it was included with K66 or was separate. I can't find it in the order guide for 1966, although K66 ignition is listed in there.

Dad ordered his 66 with the large alternator to power the power supply for his ham radio. It came with that regulator     scan0006.jpg

Interesting. That's what I was wondering. It's odd the order guide says nothing about it being on there if you order the big alternator but that sure makes sense.

He had his radio unit under the hood? I see it on the heater box I think?

Under the hood is a 120 volt inverter. The ham radio was under the center of the dash when we use to travel to Saskatewan every summer.

Ok, I wondered. I was thinking the engine heat would be awful hard on a radio. But for that matter, even an inverter too, it would get pretty hot in the engine bay sitting on the heater box.

It looks very close to a K66, transistorized ignition piece, except for the hole in the middle. Does it maybe have the same purpose ?

No, this is a voltage regulator. That hole in the middle is an allen head set screw, which I assume does an adjustment on it but not really sure.

I have one on my 65 Catalina Ventura. Mine is a 421 HO with TI ignition. Hope to have it running this spring.

My late friend was a commercial welder and electronics distributor, his work van had a small welder permanently mounted under the hood, ran off a 150 amp alternator.
